加息疑雲…消失吧

市場在今天的聯邦公開市場委員會（FOMC）會議之前，對聯儲局維持政策利率穩定的機率進行了99.5%的確切預期，而在這方面並沒有出現任何意外。然而，市場最近關注的是是否會提及加息的可能性，但這並沒有發生。事實上，他們非常努力地強調，在未來幾個月內加息的可能性相當小。

有時候，消除風險的舉措和正面的期望一樣受到熱烈歡迎。

市場從會議中得到了他們所期望的，而聯儲局似乎也在實現其所期望的目標，即經濟增長的放緩和勞動力市場相對一年前有更好平衡。

為了遏制通脹並對實現其2%的目標感到更有信心，聯儲局一直強調可能需要一些經濟放緩，而在本次會議上，鮑威爾承認這個過程可能會帶來一些不便。

最近的國內生產總值（GDP）數據顯示，第一季度增長了1.6%，低於趨勢水平，遠低於上一季度的3.4%。雖然今天沒有提到，但鮑威爾過去曾表示，低於趨勢增長的一段時間對於實現通脹目標是必要的。對於那些押注持續3%以上GDP增長的人來說，這可能有些不便，但這情況恰如計劃當中，以實現最終目標。

雖然冷卻過程顯示出數據反映要比預期的時間更長，但我認為這大部分是聯儲局希望我們回歸“正常運作”的表現。

但正如鮑威爾今天指出的，單一數據不足以使他們採取立場。這意味著現在沒有必要急於採取任何行動，在可見未來也不會有。

難以喘息

自 2022 年中期達到高峰以來，通膨已取得很大進展，消費者支出在商品和服務價格持續上漲的情況下也表現出彈性。但我們開始聽到有關消費者感到資金周轉困難以及通脹指標重新上升的聲音，例如就業成本指數(ECI)。

儘管核心個人消費支出（PCE）已經下降（這是聯儲局的首選指標），我們知道還有其他措施在繼續對消費者造成壓力，就業成本指數也對雇主造成壓力。

第一季度的盈利季還沒有結束，但我們已經聽到許多面向消費者的大型品牌表示，非必要性支出有所下降，消費者不再像過去幾個季度那樣願意承擔較高的價格。容易讓人擔心消費力正在疲弱。然而，市場參與者和聯儲局可能希望的是消費者不過度消費，這將使通脹保持高位並使其處於不可持續的狀態。也許就是這種情況，不是所有的疲弱都是壞的，有些是為了讓經濟環境更有利於更多的人。

然而，我們需要仔細關注就業成本指數的變化。如果就業成本在消費者減緩支出的同時仍然居高不下，可能會導致利潤收縮和盈利增長的疲弱。考慮到市場目前預計2024年盈利每股增長率將達到兩位數，這個風險值得注意。

享受片刻的暫停

儘管市場擔心的事情並沒有發生，這次的聯邦公開市場委員會（FOMC）會議中並沒有太多的變化。減息措施仍然遙遠，經濟數據仍然相當穩健，聯儲局對最終實現通脹目標的能力也沒有過度擔憂。
