New Mega-Bundles Could Save You Money on Streaming

New Mega-Bundles Could Save You Money on Streaming

Streaming Isn’t Cheap

Consumers, especially millennials and Gen Z, think they’re spending too much money on streaming services.

Streaming bundles are a great way to save cash. The Disney bundle, for example, includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for $24.99 a month without ads, saving subscribers roughly 41% over paying for each service separately.

And while Disney was glad to offer its own streaming services in a bundle, it wasn’t teaming up with rival companies … until now.

The Future of Bundles

In the new world of mega-bundles, competitors are joining forces to offer more variety for a single subscription fee.

Last week, Disney (DIS) and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) announced they were working together on a bundle that will include Disney+, Hulu, and Max, which is projected to be available this summer. That’s right, you’ll be able to get your Pixar and White Lotus fix with a single subscription.

More into sports, but don’t want to pay for cable or YouTube TV?

In February, Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Fox Corp. (FOX) revealed they’re aiming for a fall launch of a new sports streaming bundle, which will give consumers access to ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN+, ESPNews, ABC, Fox, FS1, FS2, the Big Ten Network, SECN, ACCN, TBS, truTV, and TNT.

There is no word on how much either package will cost. But they are likely to give consumers some relief from high streaming bills while simultaneously helping media companies prevent consumers from quitting, thanks to the increased value and entertainment options of bundles.

Other Ways to Save on Streaming

Aside from bundles, there are plenty of ways for consumers to save on streaming. If they’re sure they won’t want to quit a service in the near future, paying annually can be much cheaper than forking over a monthly subscription fee.

Setting a renewal reminder is a good way to prevent yourself from resubscribing to a service you’re just not that into anymore. And choosing a plan with ads or opting for a free service like Pluto TV or the Roku Channel can also save you money.
